Permanent Collection
The museum has an interesting collection of paintings, prints and drawings, with the emphasis on Dutch painting from the 17th century up to the present day.
The Golden Age    The collection includes works from famous Dutch Masters of the Golden Age with prize pieces from the Cuyp family and Rembrandt's students. Dordrecht's past prominence is reflected in the museum's masterpieces by Albert Cuyp, Nicolaes Maes and Ferdinand Bol. Work by Jan van Goyen is also represented.

From Romanticism to Impressionism   
Paintings from the 18th, 19th and early landscapes by Jacob van Strij and Romantic masterpieces from B.C. Koekkoek and A. Schelfhout. Work by Ary Scheffer, the 19th-century Franco-Dutch painter, is permanently displayed. The collection of works from the Hague and Amsterdam schools is impressive with paintings by Mauve, Breitner and the Maris brothers.

Old and New Developments   
The collection of 20th-century paintings, prints and drawings includes work by important pre-war masters such as Jan Toorop and Jan Sluijters. More recent developments are well represented with work from the Cobra group including Appel and Constant and masters such as J.C.J. van der Heyden and Armando.

Visiting hours

Tuesday - Sunday 11 am - 5 pm and Mondays during school holidays. Closed on Monday (except during school holidays), 1 January and 25 December.

Central station: 10 à 15 minutes by foot or bus 20 (stop Scheffersplein). By car: centre of Dordrecht, parking Drievriendenhof.
